The Octopus and the Orangutan--Issue #10

‘Twas a blustering, tedious, philanthropic day

When the octopus set sail for the high seas.

With him he took, for company,

An almanac and a tray of cheese.

The wind was coming from three points North

And the barometer was low on mercury

On that day the octopus sallied forth

With his almanac and his tray of cheese.

The orangutan was reclining tediously

Dreaming of philanthropic cheese

When the three point almanac ran away

For fear of the African stinging bees.

The orangutan never batted an eye

At this unfortunate catastrophe.

For he was asleep, well high and dry–

Till the barometer bumped him, low on mercury.

Up sprang our incumbent, benign orangutan,

The octopus overboard toppled in shock.

The almanacs met and began to start dating

While the cheese quickly paddled back to the dock.

Loud and close buzzed the African bees

And the barometer scored three points on the tray.

The tedious, blustering wind banged his knees

On a stray vertice of the reclining fray.

The octopus slithered away to his home.

The orangutan settled back down to his nap.

The almanacs dated till their parents did come

And send them running back home with a whack.

The barometer whittled a stout stick of cheese

To pass the incumbent time away.

The tray then befriended the African bees

And collected all of the vertices stray.

The end.
